If you haven’t been around my Discord or a random recent video of mine, I’ve been trying to get a 2009 Honda Rebel running so I can use it as my daily driver.
Well one of the last steps before trying to start it was draining the fuel that had been sitting in it for 3 years:
And after that.. it started! Off of the bad fuel in the carburetor… So we filled it up and did a little more testing, including actually riding it a little.
The next morning, I went out to give it some more testing:
And unfortunately couldn’t record any of it. Oh wait, no, there was this:
So right now, the idle jet is clogged, which means that in order for it to run, the choke has to be at least half open. (Idle jet -> fuel flow for idling. Choke adds more fuel for starting up when the engine is cold. Bad fuel flow means needs more fuel flow to actually run.) Hopefully it won’t take too long to get that worked out.
